Editorial Policy of the Triangle Free Press
The editorial board of the Triangle Free Press has diverse perspectives but shares certain core values.
1) The belief in a just society.
2) The belief in democracy in politics, but also democracy in the workplace and in the economy.
Founded in 2001, the Triangle Free Press played an important role as a critical voice during the US wars in Afghanistan and Iraq. The Triangle Free Press editorial board is skeptical of both the Democrat and Republican Party’s foreign policy consensus.
The Triangle Free Press recognizes that all news publications will have a bias. The bias of the Triangle Free Press is to be critical of corporate greed and to support working people in their ongoing struggle for better lives. This is in contrast to mainstream media that is dependent on advertising revenue from major corporations – companies that contribute to the ills of racism, excessive consumerism and militarism so that the wealth produced by workers is directed to already wealthy individuals.
The Triangle Free Press is volunteer run. We are committed to following the journalistic principles of transparency, accountability, accuracy, and operating in the public interest. The Triangle Free Press believes in freedom of speech and frequently publishes opinion articles. Opinion articles are clearly labeled and represent perspectives worthy of consideration, and not necessarily the personal views of the editorial board. The Triangle Free Press will not publish opinions or articles that demonize or scapegoat any particular social group.
